Together with our Patrons we visited Bobby Arora’s contemporary art collection at his London residence.
This collection of important paintings is rooted in figuration and portraiture. The works on display reflected Mr Arora's journey in art appreciation with each work on view representing a key moment in that artist’s career: sometimes resonant as a turning point in the artist's oeuvre, sometimes simply a key work from a major series.
To the fore in this collection is Neo-Expressionism as it emerged in the 1980s through artists such as Georg Baselitz, and the Post-Expressionism which followed-seen through works of Richard Prince, George Condo, Martin Kippenberger, Albert Oehlen, Cecily Brown to name a few. However, the collection spans the entire twentieth century beginning with work by Picasso, Picabia, Polke, Richter as well as British masters such as Bacon, Freud and Auerbach.
