On a sunny Monday in London, Patrons joined us for a walking tour with Russell Nash. In today’s walking tour we learned all about the fascinating history of Westminster at War.
The dark days of World War II changed the lives of Londoners. As bombs fell, citizens took to underground shelters for cover. Children were evacuated to the countryside and women worked in factories and transport for the first time. In the West End the restaurants, theatres and nightclubs struggled to stay open during The Blitz and the grandest hotels became the most upmarket camps the world has ever seen.
Thank you Russell Nash for transporting us back in time to the 1940’s and teaching us how Mayfair changed throughout the war.
