Special Evening with Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo

ArtSocial new season and Frieze London week could not have started on a more inspirational note: on 2 October at the Italian Culture Institute we hosted a much anticipated meeting with Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, one of the most influential art collectors of our time, in conversation with an art critic and UK editor of ArtNet Lorena Munoz Alonso.

A ‘towering presence in the world of contemporary art’, as FT How to Spend it wrote about Patrizia recently, she spoke to our members about her journey in the art world - from her first collection of vintage pillboxes to becoming one of today’s major patrons and commissioners of contemporary art.

It was especially interesting to talk to Patrizia about her philanthropic mission to support artists and to open up the world of contemporary art to a wider audience. Through her non-profit Fondazione Sandretto in Turin, Patrizia and her team work a lot to engage children and young people with the best of today’s art.

“If after seeing an exhibition I leave with one new thought, it is a success. And I can imagine what this experience can give to a person who has less experiences in life  – art can give them really a lot of food for thoughts”.

Patrizia’s mindset is indeed very close to the hearts of ArtSocial members and we left the evening feeling inspired and ready for a busy art week.
